Foundation Awards More Than $100,000 in Grants
In its initial grant cycle, The Morrow County Community Foundation awarded 13 grants totaling just over $100,000 in June to nonprofit organizations serving residents throughout Morrow County. This news was featured in a recent Business First news story that you can read here.
The grants support programs and projects that strengthen the community in areas such as health and wellness, education, and quality of life. The awards reflect the Foundation’s commitment to connecting local resources with organizations working to meet community needs and create lasting benefits for Morrow County residents.
Excerpt from Business First:
“Sinden, the foundation’s executive director, said the organization is just getting started assessing the county’s needs and who can help meet them.
“The grant application process gives us an opportunity to get better educated about the organizations doing work in Morrow County and what the needs of those organizations are, she said…”
“Sinden framed the foundation as a long-term civic asset rather than a short-term grant program, noting that community foundations are “marathons, not sprints. She’s hoping the announcement of the grants will raise awareness of the foundation.
Part of our purpose for existence is to give grants. Part of our purpose for existence is to encourage philanthropy, she said.”
